I have bought this item on Amazon through their third party [ Once it reboots, connect back with the browser if your connection was lost. However, thanks to previous reviewers, I was able to get this set up relatively quickly. The extender's login should pop up and proceed to type in "admin" for user id and "" for password without quote marks. After that I was all connected!
Anyway, here is Boris' post. Because my network is on I have a problem with one room receiving signals and have tried netgear g powerline access point and linksys g range expander.
To remedy this here's what apparently worked for me my security settings were matched up -Updated the firmware.
The only "solution" I ever got somewhat working is to create multiple wireless vlans and dhcp scopes while using the same SSID on both the origin hqwking extender and when I walked to the back of the house, the wireless device would drop off at the edge and receive an entirely new IP on the same subnet as the original, while the SSID and authentication would take place in the background. Looks like it frustrated more than a few people. Before posting such steps, I also noticed a few comments complaining about dropped links.

In such case change the IP of your computer as I did from I was skeptical about this product due a lack of reviews on the net but decided to take the plunge I have placed this item in the middle of my Den and wireless router where repeater can get four bars of the signal from 2wire router. That's one doozy of an extender. Use again the http: The signal of wireless router is one to two bars. Leave alone all setting under Advanced Wireless Settings as presented; and move over to System Utility.
Use the web interface setup instead see the manual on the CD. That's all folks; hopefully this helps future buyers of this extender. As far as I know there are few marketed "N" options available to do the job Here you want to change the device admin password. Move on to the Advanced Settings tab.

When presented with the System Utility page again, you may want to change the IP of the extender to something that works on your network. If the IP changed you may see a warning that you need to reconnect using the new IP. I would agree with the previous reviews.
The signal from the repeater is very good from my Den, the speed is very good if it stays connected. All security parameters should be the same as in the AP. I have called the Hawking Tech Support, they have helped me to reconfig it, but still not help.
My router is in the basement and the signal is not the setyp on the second floor. Once you get it working it is great.
The interface is simple and pretty self explanatory. Most of the other reviewers are pointing to his review and thanking him. Hence, I decided to purchase it and so far so good.
